Il confirme en outre un fait bien connu des sportifs : varier sa vitesse permet de mieux d\u00e9penser son \u00e9nergie et de courir plus longtemps. Les math\u00e9matiques offrent ainsi l&rsquo;opportunit\u00e9 aux coureurs de passer de simples outils de mesures statistiques (2) au conseil sportif personnalis\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Ce mod\u00e8le math\u00e9matique prend tout d&rsquo;abord en compte l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie du coureur, notamment sa consommation maximale d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne (VO2max)(3) et son stock d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie ana\u00e9robie(4), en les faisant intervenir dans un syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9quations diff\u00e9rentielles reliant la vitesse, l&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration, la force de propulsion et les forces de frottement. Ce syst\u00e8me est coupl\u00e9 \u00e0 des conditions initiales de d\u00e9part de la course, vitesse nulle et quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie donn\u00e9e, et des contraintes : l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et la force de propulsion doivent \u00eatre positives (le coureur ne peut pas reculer). Les chercheurs sont capables avec ce mod\u00e8le de pr\u00e9dire le comportement que doit avoir le sportif tout au long de sa course au moyen d&rsquo;un bilan instantan\u00e9 d\u00e9terminant \u00e0 la seconde pr\u00e8s la vitesse optimale du coureur et l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie d\u00e9pens\u00e9e depuis le d\u00e9part. Leur r\u00e9sultat principal montre ainsi que varier sa vitesse permet de d\u00e9penser moins d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et de courir plus longtemps. De plus, en comparant ces r\u00e9sultats avec ceux d&rsquo;athl\u00e8tes professionnels, les auteurs peuvent \u00e9galement pr\u00e9ciser quels param\u00e8tres physiologiques les coureurs doivent d\u00e9velopper pour s&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer en r\u00e9pondant par exemple aux questions suivantes : quels seront les r\u00e9sultats d&rsquo;un champion s&rsquo;il avait le poids et la consommation maximale d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne d&rsquo;un coureur amateur ? Quels sont alors les param\u00e8tres que le sportif amateur peut am\u00e9liorer pour s&rsquo;approcher des r\u00e9sultats habituels du champion ? Doit-il am\u00e9liorer sa capacit\u00e9 respiratoire ou son \u00e9nergie ana\u00e9robie ?<\/p>\n<p>Les applications de ce mod\u00e8le concernent deux types de publics. Dans le cas des coureurs \u00ab semi-professionnels \u00bb qui n&rsquo;ont pas l&rsquo;opportunit\u00e9 de travailler avec un entra\u00eeneur ou dans le cadre de cours d&rsquo;\u00e9ducation physique et sportive \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9cole, les chercheurs souhaiteraient d\u00e9velopper un logiciel capable de cr\u00e9er des programmes d&rsquo;entrainements personnalis\u00e9s qui indiqueraient les param\u00e8tres physiologiques \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper en priorit\u00e9 et de r\u00e9aliser des strat\u00e9gies pr\u00e9cisant les vitesses optimales \u00e0 atteindre \u00e0 chaque moment de la course. Pour les \u00ab coureurs du dimanche \u00bb, le syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9quations \u00e9tant adaptable \u00e0 toutes les variables int\u00e9ressantes pour le sportif (et pas seulement la vitesse), ces derniers pourraient, par exemple, conna\u00eetre instantan\u00e9ment le nombre exact (et non pas une simple moyenne comme pour les outils existant actuellement) de calories perdues lors de la course afin d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer leur perte de poids.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs souhaitent d\u00e9sormais am\u00e9liorer leur mod\u00e8le math\u00e9matique en int\u00e9grant au syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9quations de nouveaux param\u00e8tres comme l&rsquo;altitude ou l&rsquo;effet du vent et l&rsquo;appliquer \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres sports d&rsquo;endurance comme le cyclisme, la natation ou le cano\u00e9 kayak.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">(1)Amandine Aftalion est directrice de recherche CNRS au Laboratoire de math\u00e9matiques de Versailles. La consommation maximale d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne correspond au volume d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne maximal que le coureur peut utiliser lors d&rsquo;un effort. Elle est utilis\u00e9e pour mesurer la capacit\u00e9 respiratoire des coureurs.<br \/>\n(4)La d\u00e9nomination \u00ab ana\u00e9robie \u00bb est attribu\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie utilis\u00e9e par le corps lorsque celui-ci subit un d\u00e9ficit en oxyg\u00e8ne.
