Ils avaient pris le d\u00e9part de la course samedi matin \u00e0 4h, pour parcourir les 82 km de course avec 6600m de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9. A noter que la course initialement longue de 102 km avait \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duite en raison de la neige encore pr\u00e9sente par endroit dans la vall\u00e9e des Merveilles.<\/p>\n<p>Pour ce premier jour d&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9, les concurrents ne pensaient certainement pas devoir affronter une temp\u00eate de gr\u00eale et de neige durant la nuit, leur rappelant qu&rsquo;\u00e0 plus de 2000m d&rsquo;altitude, la nature est encore plus dangereuse et impr\u00e9visible. Ces conditions climatiques ont pouss\u00e9 <a title=\"Association A.P.A.C.H.E.S\" href=\"http:\/\/pagesperso-orange.fr\/apaches\/index.htm\">l&rsquo;association Apaches<\/a> de Coaraze, organisatrice de l&rsquo;\u00e9v\u00e8nement, \u00e0 neutraliser la course dimanche \u00e0 2h du matin, apr\u00e8s 22h de course. Trop tard malheureusement pour les 3 disparus qui, selon les premiers r\u00e9sultats de l&rsquo;enqu\u00eate, sont morts d&rsquo;hypothermie apr\u00e8s une chute.
